My Research

As a postdoctoral researcher in the Field Lab, Huakun is passionate about combining optical and electrophysiological methods to investigate retinal circuits.

His doctoral research focused on in vivo functional retinal imaging. In particular, he investigated the dynamics of retinal cells in response to visual stimulation to advance understanding of retinal physiology and biophysics and to develop potential biomarkers for the early diagnosis of retinal degenerative diseases.

Earlier, during his undergraduate studies, Huakun developed customized signal- and image-processing approaches for high-performance optical coherence tomography angiography.
